Small collection of my paintings

I'm driven by the process of creating my art; the construction and destruction of layers, the addition and subtraction of paper and paint.  The majority of my work is mounted on board, allowing me to scrape and really beat up the surface if I so desire.  My next collection I have planned will be large scale abstractions - I may have some current work for sale (some not pictured above) contact me for details - aleximaczka gmail

Dave Muller - Artist and DJ

I love discovering new artists - there are so many incredibly talented artists out there that I've never heard of!  Dave Muller is one of them; love his subject matter (music) and media (mostly large scale painntings on paper).  Read an interview at Beautiful Decay.

Dave Muller lives and works in Los Angeles. Find more examples of his work at Blum & Poe & Anthony Meier.

Kehinde Wiley creates giant Renaissance masterpieces with a modern twist

Rendered in a realistic mode –– while making references to specific old master paintings –– Wiley creates a fusion of period styles, ranging from French rococo, Islamic architecture and West African textile design to contemporary hip–hop culture.

These paintings are HUGE...I had the pleasure of seeing a small show at the Portland Museum and was shocked by the grand scale of his work...truly something that must be seen in person in truly appreciate.

Tuesday Trio: Ferris Plock, Gregory Euclide, and Meredith Dittmar

Ferris Plock - artwork incorporates animals or monsters in everyday human activity
Gregory Euclide
- an artist and teacher who creates amazing mixed media pieces that I would love to see in person
Meredith Dittmar
-  a Portland based artist, her work is crazy (I had a small art show with her at FancySchmancyPants when I first moved to Seattle in 2005)

Tuesday Trio: Faile, José Parlá, & Joshua Petker

Faile - Been a fan for years now - just realized that what appear to be torn layers of posters affixed on top of each other is really just one flat surface; all details are hand painted. Turns out there was a "Street Art" show at the Tate Modern in 2008; Faile (and Os Gêmeos and others) had a giant mural pasted outside.

José Parlá
- Dark, dirty and dank - riddled with layers of calligraphic script - would love to see them in person.  His website is "under construction," so you may want to view more of his art and read an interview at FecalFace.com

Joshua Petker - A modern day impressionist influenced by Klimt (his own words).
