Chicago-based artist, Up In The Air Somewhere, created these ceramic cups that are hand-dipped in bright yellow rubber. A very interesting combination of materials; I bet they're fun to hold -
4" tall, 2.5" dia.

Rendered in a realistic mode –– while making references to specific old master paintings –– Wiley creates a fusion of period styles, ranging from French rococo, Islamic architecture and West African textile design to contemporary hip–hop culture.
These paintings are HUGE...I had the pleasure of seeing a small show at the Portland Museum and was shocked by the grand scale of his work...truly something that must be seen in person in truly appreciate.Comments [0]
Jason Hackenwert makes more than your average balloon animals; his pieces remind me of giant sea creatures and/or microscopic organisms - you choose. Watch Jason destroy one of his sculptures with a razor.
Yoo Young Wun transforms newspapers, advertisements, and handbills into crazy distorted characters. It appears that he uses some sort of special folding technique to produces the unique surface texture.
Gordon Bennett assembles these robots from found objects. Ranging in height from 14-25" these one-of-a-kind sculptures each take about a month to build and are definitely not toys. Bennett's work is inspired by the industrial designers, Norman Bel Geddes and Raymond Loewy (a Loewy pencil sharpener prototype sold at auction for 100k).

Parra - a Dutch graphic designer, illustrator, artist, art director, and clothing company owner - he's got a unique style (and twisted humor) that I enjoy. Check out this collabo with Nike and his Rockwell clothing company.
Jim Houser - interesting pieces with a nice, folk art style - go on a tour of his studio
Yumiko - online, her work looks computer generated - it's not. I've seen a few of her shows (at the Shooting Gallery in SF and Roq La Rue here in Seattle) and her precise illustrative painting technique is quite impressive.

Ferris Plock - artwork incorporates animals or monsters in everyday human activity
Gregory Euclide - an artist and teacher who creates amazing mixed media pieces that I would love to see in person
Meredith Dittmar - a Portland based artist, her work is crazy (I had a small art show with her at FancySchmancyPants when I first moved to Seattle in 2005)

AJ Fosik - beautifully carved & meticulously assembled, would love to hang one of these.

Faile - Been a fan for years now - just realized that what appear to be torn layers of posters affixed on top of each other is really just one flat surface; all details are hand painted. Turns out there was a "Street Art" show at the Tate Modern in 2008; Faile (and Os Gêmeos and others) had a giant mural pasted outside.
José Parlá - Dark, dirty and dank - riddled with layers of calligraphic script - would love to see them in person. His website is "under construction," so you may want to view more of his art and read an interview at FecalFace.com
